![]() The Enchantress is a good chassis and so are the Grey ones. Alternatively you can work resistances into the bless especially fire and lightning resistance or take combined fire and lightning resist for 5E. I like a rainbow bless on a dormant Enchantress that gives magic weapons and attack, defence, swiftness, +4 extra damage, 3 x resillient, undying and unholy command (for indy priests). The bless is still useful for lictors and censors if you use them as light thugs. Since I rate KotUS highly I take a bless that maximises their effect early on and preserves some effect into the mid game if they get mage support. Remember that all your longdead and souless troops have the "never heal" tag and so when you invade enemy dominion your armies will gradually wear out and need a constant flow of replacements to reinforce damaged troops. Ghouls and longdead horsemen are exceptions and these have special uses. The longdead and other freespawn you get from unforted provinces is poorly armoured and equiped and so much weaker but they can be used as filler chaff to distract and wear down enemy mages and in huge numbers can be useful in battle as well as for patrolling and sieges. ![]() You get 10 to 20 of these for free in each fort each turn and these are the backbone of your main armies. ![]() Your best freespawn longdead also comes from forts, they are undead legionaries and have armour, javelins and a tower shield and are as good as a normal recruitable troop costing 10 gold. So to generate them it is best to build a cluster of forts around the capital or a nearby throne to centralise troop production. The Knights of the Unholy Sceplchre (KotUS) are your best troops IMO, at least into the middle game, and they only freespawn from forts inside your dominion and preferably with a temple. It is an interesting problem that has no easy solution, you always want more D gems. You need to balance your use of D gems between summoning mages for research, site searching and archbishops needed to lead large armies as well as making enough lictors. Lictors are not free, each effectively costs a D gem, either through summoning with the item or from an archbishop (costs 23 D) re-animating 1 per turn. ![]() MA Ermor has an economy based around D gems and you need to build temples early to boost D gem income. ![]()
